Halton Region’s flood-prevention subsidy currently covers 100% of eligible material and labour costs, up to $6,500, for qualifying weeping tile disconnection and sump pump installation work completed after July 15, 2024. Eligible weeping tiles must be disconnected from the wastewater lateral and redirected to a pump that meets local requirements.

A permit from the applicable local municipality is required when a new pump is installed as part of the subsidy application. The Town of Milton lists new plumbing and plumbing alterations as permit categories. Halton Region also requires eligible applications to be submitted within one year after the work is completed. Water-powered backup sump pumps aren’t eligible under this subsidy.

Eligibility isn’t automatic. Before authorizing work, confirm current program terms, sewer and drainage requirements, permits, inspections, documentation, authorized-contractor rules, eligible costs and discharge requirements directly with Halton Region and the Town of Milton.
