How Trenchless Sewer Line Replacement Works

The process begins with an inspection, followed by method selection, access-point preparation, installation, testing, and site restoration. Trenchless methods generally follow the existing sewer route, but the pipe’s condition, configuration, and connections determine how much excavation is required.

Video Camera Inspection

A camera inspection documents the pipe material, diameter, route, alignment, and visible damage. We also review access and connection points along the sewer lateral, the pipe that carries wastewater from the building toward the municipal sewer.

Pipe Lining

Pipe lining inserts a resin-coated liner into a structurally suitable host pipe. Once cured, the liner forms a new pipe inside the existing line. This method requires enough structural continuity and interior space to position and cure the liner correctly.

Pipe Bursting

Pipe bursting breaks the old pipe outward while pulling a replacement pipe along the established route. Whether it’s practical depends on access, clearances, existing connections, nearby utilities, and other site conditions.

Open-Trench or Hybrid Replacement

A collapsed sewer pipe, severe misalignment, inaccessible connection, or pipe belly (a low section that holds wastewater) may require open-trench excavation or a combination of trenchless work and localized digging.
